Mission

Legal Aid secures justice, equity, and access to opportunity for and with people who have low incomes through passionate legal representation and advocacy for systemic change. As the only civil legal aid provider in Northeast Ohio, Legal Aid plays a unique and critical role in our region. We are a lifeline for people experiencing some of life’s most harrowing challenges. Eviction, education barriers, wage theft, tax issues, civil protection orders, access to public benefits - all of these and more are areas that our staff address every day, creating ripples of impact through the communities we serve. Legal Aid staff and volunteers have the skills, knowledge, and commitment to public service to be allies and problem-solvers alongside our clients and community. By solving fundamental problems for and with people with low incomes, we remove barriers to opportunity and help people achieve greater stability. This leads to greater engagement in our community, which in turn fosters a vibrant society. Thanks to support from the philanthropic community, our services are provided at no cost to clients.
