Vision

Truth in Accounting advocates for the implementation of rigorous full accrual accounting standards across all governmental budgets and financial reports. This initiative is essential to enhancing transparency and accountability within governmental finances. By adopting these higher standards, we can unveil the true economic reality that cash-basis accounting often conceals. This renewed level of transparency not only empowers citizens with a clearer understanding of government spending but also fosters trust in our democratic institutions.

Goals

1. 1.Ensuring compliance with the Financial Data Transparency Act. A federal law passed in December of 2023. This legislation modernizes governmental financial reporting by making it machine-readable.
2. 2.Having states adopt our model legislation. The Fiscal Transparency and Accountability Act requires full accrual accounting for all local municipalities that receive state revenue.
3. 3.Release three reports: Financial State of the Union, Financial State of the States & Financial State of the Cities. Giving voters the financial facts that are hidden behind cash-basis accounting.
