Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists

Mission

The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists equips the public, policymakers, and scientists with the information needed to reduce human-made threats to our existence. Founded by scientists and engineers of the Manhattan Project who believed that science-based expertise is critical to democratic decision-making and humanity’s survival, the Bulletin has been at the forefront of addressing existential threats to humanity since December 1945.

The Bulletin’s ultimate vision is a world where present and future generations work together to reduce the existential risks caused by nuclear weapons, climate change, and disruptive technologies.

Goals

1.A nonprofit science and technology outlet, the Bulletin publishes articles on our open-access website and bimonthly magazine; hosts the iconic Doomsday Clock; and provides regular events so that the public, policymakers, and scientists have the information needed to reduce existential threats. Our goal is to expand reporting, programs, and amplification initiatives.
