While emergency funding became available due to the virus, fundraising became more challenging in other ways (cancelled fundraising events, etc.).
Since we provide life-long homes for our residents, that component of our program was unaffected. However, community integration is also a big part of our program, and that aspect is being severely affected due recreational events, gatherings, and community functions being cancelled, even to this date. As of October 2021, the virus is still very active in Montana.
We adapted by staying isolated during the peak of the pandemic, and when residents did leave the ranch, we took lots of precautions. We also held more recreational events on the ranch, since community gatherings were/are cancelled.
We are raising funds to build a recreational center, so that we will be better equipped to enhance the lives of our residents, regardless of future pandemics and other public crises.

We partner with other organizations, such as Special Olympics Montana, to mobilize our mission and theirs. We raise awareness with an active Facebook page (more than 5,000 followers) and website. We hold virtual and in-person events, and we utilize print marketing, as well. We are active members of the Montana Nonprofit Association and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. We attend leadership conferences and activities to develop and train our staff.

The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
In addition to common ways in which organizations have been adapting (emergency funding, PPP grants, etc.) we are currently raising funds to build a recreational center. While vocation is a huge part of our program, recreation is, as well. With the new Center, our ranchers can play basketball and other games year-round, and we will also be able to host our own sporting events. This way, the lives of our residents can be enhanced through recreation, regardless of pandemics and crises.
