Goals

1. 1.Close Chicago’s academic opportunity gap: Too many Chicago students lack the support they need, and fewer than 1 in 3 Chicago Public Schools students in grades 3–8 read at grade level. Donor support helps CPL deliver programs that strengthen early literacy, build confidence, sustain learning beyond school, and engage teens in peer‑driven literary activities.
2. 2.Activate creativity and connection for all: Over a third of Chicago residents report loneliness, resulting in real social and health impacts. We leverage donor support to foster connection through free cultural and creative programs at all 81 CPL branches—from movie nights and exhibits to craft workshops and author talks—bringing neighbors together through shared interests.
3. 3.Bridge Chicago’s digital divide and expand economic mobility: With 15% of Chicago households lacking home internet, CPL’s 81 branches are essential for digital access. Donor support helps adults build digital skills, navigate job platforms, craft resumes, and access training, linking AI & digital literacy with workforce readiness so Chicagoans can grow skills, confidence, and economic stability.
