Have Dreams
Mission
Have Dreams was founded in 1996. The organization's mission is to help individuals with autism learn, function independently and socialize so that they may realize their full potential and develop into contributing members of their communities. We offer a continuum of programming across the life span, beginning with social skills programs for children and teens, prevocational programs, and life skills and workforce training programs for adults. Many families refer to Have Dreams as a "haven of hope". The support and services we offer help to alleviate the social isolation often experienced by individuals with autism. Have Dreams utilizes best practices and evidence-based methodology to implement all programming. Our staff is highly trained in these methods. Have Dreams has trained thousands of educators, other professionals, and parents in these methods.
Vision
Have Dreams envisions a world where all individuals with autism spectrum disorder are fully accepted, integrated and supported, so they may live productive, meaningful lives that include friendship and opportunities to realize their full potential.
Goals
- 1.In response to demand for comprehensive, wraparound supports for children with autism, Have Dreams launched Educational Advocacy Services to support families navigating special education, accommodations, and school-based services. Our advocates collaborate with families, schools, and providers to ensure students receive appropriate, meaningful and individualized support in the educational setting.
- 2.Have Dreams is expanding our one-to-one clinical counseling services to meet the growing need for mental health support for autistic individuals. We are hiring more clinicians to help provide person-centered, neurodivergent affirming approach informed by evidence-based practices to individuals on the spectrum ages 10+. Our clinicians also facilitate free support groups for families and caregivers.
- 3.To maintain excellence in our programs and retain professional staff, Have Dreams needs to be competitive as an employer to retain and attract special education professionals. To remain competitive with school salaries, Have Dreams has initiated staff salary increases to address cost of living increases, and maximize staff retention through competitive, commensurate compensation.
