    Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans

    Mission

MSHV aims to empower at-risk veterans and their families to become self-sufficient, productive members of their communities. Through their service to our nation, homeless and at-risk veterans have earned the right to safe housing and the opportunity to attain self-sufficiency. In order to recognize the benefit our community has received from their service and sacrifice, MSHV serves to fill the gap between veterans’ needs and the capabilities of the Veterans Administration (VA) and other agencies. While there is a foreseeable point where the veteran homeless population could reach functional zero, MSHV believes the mitigating forces behind homelessness will be ongoing stressors within the veteran community for years to come. As a result, MSHV will develop and maintain a flexible approach between focusing service on homelessness and the prevention of homelessness.
