This organization was impacted by COVID-19 in a way that effected their financial health in 2020. This normally would have reduced their star rating. Due to the unprecedented nature of the pandemic, we give charities such as this one the opportunity to share the story of COVID's impact on them, and doing this pauses our revision of their rating. Charities may submit their own pandemic responses through their nonprofit portal.
Filter of Hope Inc. reported being impacted by COVID-19 in the following ways:
Program Delivery
Fundraising Capacity
Revenue
We had to go fully remote with our staff
How COVID-19 impacted the organization's operations financially:
Filter of Hope made major pivots through the Covid season. We were forced to cancel 75 short-term mission trips which resulted in lower revenue. We shifted our focus to the work we starting with many partners working in the 10/40 Window. This focus on Unreached People Groups (UPG's) has seen amazing growth. In the summer of 2021 we were able to slowly resume our mission trips to Latin America
How COVID-19 impacted the organization's delivery of programs:
We shifted our ministry focus from primarily short-term mission trips to establishing partnerships in the 10/40 Window among Unreached People Groups. We have blessed with incredible partners and we've seen tremendous growth and major impact in the villages we serve This program will certainly continue to be a major focus for Filter of Hope after international travel allows us to resume short term service trips full speed again.
How this organization adapted to changing conditions caused by COVID-19:
We had to shift away from projects that required international travel and our focus to areas we could control. We also spent a lot of time working on our internal operations, policies and procedures. We hired industry leading consultants to help with improve our branding, messaging and execution strategy
Innovations the organization intends to continue permanently after the pandemic:
The work we began in countries located in the 10/40 Window (North Africa to South East Asia) has grown tremendously and will remain a major area of focus for our ministry. This work falls under our department called Global Ministry Expansion and is dedicated primarily to help families living in extreme poverty among Unreached People Groups

Certainly. We work with local church leaders all over the world to help us distribute and monitor the use of the water filters. We listen carefully to the feedback received by the church leaders from the people in their communities that we serve. We empower the local leaders to make decisions.

It is difficult to get the people we serve to respond to requests for feedback, The people we serve tell us they find data collection burdensome
Briefly describe a recent change that your organization made in response to feedback from the people you serve.
When our water filters seemed to be malfunctioning, we found through our discussion and focus groups that cleaning the filters once per week was not sufficient. After this discovery we changed our cleaning instructions to once per day and the problem was completely eliminated!
