Vision

The 2030 Michigan Humane strategic plan challenges our team to have a even greater impact by helping even more animals and their families. Dedicated to protecting every companion animal, we passionately serve both ends of the leash, establishing the national benchmark for comprehensive animal welfare to build healthier, safer, and more vibrant communities. Our strategy defines programmatic areas where Michigan Humane will focus. For animals in our shelters, we commit to providing the highest quality of physical and emotional care to animals in our community that have nowhere else to go. For animals in our community, we will enhance the welfare of all people and animals in Metro Detroit--focusing on keeping families together. A cornerstone to our work will also be expanding access to veterinary care through low-cost, high-quality veterinary services and developing the next generation of veterinary talent to address the veterinary shortage.

Goals

1. 1.For shelter animals, we commit to providing the highest quality of physical and emotional care, focusing on getting animals adopted even sooner, utilizing programs such as Dog Day Getaways and Canine Sleepovers to provide more informed adoptions and smoother transitions to forever homes, while still providing our best-in-class medical and behavioral care.
2. 2.For animals in our community, we will enhance the welfare of all people and animals in Metro Detroit--focusing on keeping families together. A cornerstone to our work will also be expanding access to veterinary care through low-cost, high-quality veterinary services and developing the next generation of veterinary talent to address the veterinary shortage.
3. 3.We are focusing our veterinary clinics on the way they best serve their community. Key to this strategy is the opening of the Grosfeld Urgent Care Center, Detroit’s only low-cost urgent care center serving pets in need of immediate treatment. This new model allows us to help more animals when they need us most.
