Vision

The Michigan Council on Economic Education envisions Michigan citizens who understand the benefits of economic literacy and the high cost of economic illiteracy. They are able to apply economic principles as responsible, productive, participants in the local and world communities.

Goals

1. 1.Expand access to high-quality economics and personal finance professional development for Michigan educators through in-person, virtual, and asynchronous learning. MCEE will equip teachers with stronger content knowledge, standards-aligned resources, and practical instructional strategies that improve classroom learning for students statewide.
2. 2.Expand statewide participation in MCEE’s student competitions, including the Economics Challenge, Personal Finance Challenge, and investment competitions. These programs give students opportunities to apply classroom knowledge, strengthen critical-thinking and teamwork skills, and demonstrate proficiency in economics and personal finance.
3. 3.Advance strong economics and personal finance education across Michigan by informing public policy, crafting and supporting implementation of state standards and graduation requirements, and serving as a trusted resource to policymakers, schools, and education leaders. MCEE will advocate for rigorous, practical learning opportunities for every student and teacher.
