Vision

Our vision is to provide a transformative experience that ignites growth in character and a lasting love of the outdoors and our fellow man. Our facilities and natural setting support our distinct educational philosophy and allow for a safe, unique, and rewarding experience. We aim to support and enhance the curriculum at public, private, and parochial schools by: *Encouraging the development of positive character traits, which enable students to achieve excellence and make valuable contributions in their communities *Inspiring students to become stewards of our natural surroundings through positive outdoor experiences *Educating students about the environment in a spectacular outdoor classroom Giving children new opportunities for outdoor physical activity

Goals

1. 1.Fund the Tuition Assistance Permanent Endowment Fund for Leelanau Outdoor Center’s 30th year. Tuition assistance to 1/3 of the schools that attend is important to our mission.
2. 2.Increase awareness of the Leelanau Outdoor Center so that the values and approach towards character development in outdoor education can be widely recognized and appreciated.
3. 3.Develop programs for those increasingly dependent on screen time; encourage learning outdoors; enhance interaction in person rather than social media; create lasting lessons in character development.
