Mission

Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The Wisconsin chapter was founded in 1984 and has granted more than 7,700 wishes since that time. The chapter covers the entire state of Wisconsin with the help of two regional offices in Appleton and Madison. Last year, the chapter granted 382 Wisconsin wishes. This year alone, more than 500 Wisconsin children will be diagnosed with a critical illness, and currently, more than 515 Wisconsin children are in the process of having their special wishes granted. According to a National Study, a wish come true helps children feel stronger, more energetic, more willing and able to battle their life-threatening medical conditions. For many of them it marks a turning point in the fight against their illness.

Vision

The purpose of wish granting is to provide the wish child and their family with special memories of joy and laughter, which are dramatically different from hospitals, doctors, and treatment programs. Wishes empower children with critical illnesses to fight harder. When a wish is granted, a child and their family get more than just an experience for a day, two days, or a week. Research shows that a wish can help improve a child’s quality of life, giving them a better chance of fighting their illness. A wish helps to care for the whole child – mind, body, and spirit – and even supports the community of caregivers, family, and friends around them. Our vision is to grant the wish of every eligible child in Wisconsin.
