Our organization provides essential services (housing and wraparound services) to low income and homeless veterans. Our staff was busy working the entire time. We had to make modifications and we created a pandemic information guide to keep our staff and our clients healthy.

Fortunately due to the increased needs of our clients during the pandemic we did receive a forgiven PPP loan and CARES funds to allow us to expand the services that we provide to our community veterans and their families.

Client and staff meetings were moved from in person to virtual meetings. We purchased additional technology to make this happen.
How this organization adapted to changing conditions caused by COVID-19:
In addition to operating virtually as much as possible we also rehabbed our residential housing units to provide a safer environment for our Veteran clients and staff.
Innovations the organization intends to continue permanently after the pandemic:
Increased sanitation of our buildings and new operating procedures for health emergencies were created as part of a Pandemic and Emergency Information Guide as well as virtual operating procedures that can be implemented or reinstated at any point in time.

Our organization has been extremely versatile to continue to serve Veterans across the State of Wisconsin virtually. We also have a web and mobile based APP (CVI HELP) to connect Veterans wherever they are to needed resources.
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
CVI has implemented virtual and mobile means of serving our Veteran community. We have developed a web based and mobile app to reach more Veterans and connect them to resources, which collaborated with 817 organizations to assist CVI across the state. We have developed a Pandemic and Emergency Information Guide so that we can quickly adjust our operational capabilities and mobilization of staff to various locations as needed. We have continued to work as essential staff serving our Veteran community more than ever through the pandemic as the needs became even greater.
