Youth Empowerment Project

Mission

Since its inception in 2004, Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) has grown from a small organization focused on supporting formerly incarcerated youth to one of the most comprehensive nonprofit organizations in Greater New Orleans providing services to underserved young people and their families. We now reach nearly 1,000 individuals across 13 parishes annually and operate out of 5 sites in Central City, Mid-City, Algiers, New Orleans East, and St. Charles Parish, offering 4 impactful programs, all free to participants. YEP's Mission is to engage underserved young people through community-based education, mentoring, enrichment, and employment readiness programs to help them develop skills and strengthen ties to family and community. YEP's Core Purpose is to empower young people to improve their lives and the lives of others.
