We currently invest in and support our staff by making wages and incentives available to motivate staff to exceed baseline performance expectations. Pay differentials are offered to encourage staff members to participate in and provide leadership for new projects to encourage successful outcomes. Conversations and goal setting occurs with staff members holding management / leadership positions. Individualized coaching supports this goal setting. Describe an investment in leadership…: Our Gateway180 Executive Director has been given the opportunity to and resource of working with a two Business Development Consultants to ensure the growth, stability, sustainability, and succession plan of the agency. The Consultants also assist with the development of our Board of Directors.

Our Board of Directors and Executive Director participate in our local Continuum of Care membership and have established working relationships with our industry partners. We also work closely with committees and projects in which community outcomes and data are collected, reviewed and analyzed, establishing for a better understanding of the issue of and solutions for homelessness. Our Executive Director serves on 2 of our St. Louis City CoC Committees, as well as serving as the Chairperson for the CoC System Performance Committee and the CoC Board of Directors. Involvement provides insights and trends in our industry, and best practices of HUD and other service providers. Serving in a leadership role in the CoC helps develop statistics and policies that are most effective. We engage in the following community projects: bi-annual Landlord Recruitment and Appreciation Event, The St. Louis City Housing Surge, Behavioral Health Network Housing Collaborative, and many others!

Post pandemic, we have seen an increase in the number of families and elderly woman experiencing homelessness. Recognizing that only housing ends homelessness, we have used ARPA funding to develop a Shelter to Housing Program, enabling households ready for financial independence to move directly from the shelter to housing, with short term financial support and extended case management. To support all families who have moved from shelter to housing or to extended homelessness, we created our Post Shelter Case Management Program, providing case management to assist families in obtaining stable housing post shelter move, or to maintain their housing stability, once housed. We also added on-site mental health services, as we serve an increased number of individuals experiencing homelessness. We have also expanded our footprint in the number of Rapid Rehousing Programs we have established through various funding sources.
