Southeast Missouri Food Bank

Mission

Founded in 1985, Southeast Missouri Food Bank's mission is to end hunger and leverage the power of food to build healthy communities. Through it’s network of 140 partner agencies and programs, the food bank serves individuals, families, children, seniors and veterans facing hunger across a 16-county service area. SEMO Food Bank has some of the highest rates of hunger in the state, serving five of the top 10 most food insecure counties in Missouri. The food bank also is committed to increasing access to nutritious food for our neighbors facing hunger, and in 2022 72 percent of items distributed were considered Foods 2 Encourage, which include healthy items like fruits, vegetables and proteins. SEMO Food Bank is a member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization, and Feeding Missouri.
