Our Little Haven is relentlessly committed to providing a safe, secure, and healing environment for children suffering from the tragedy of abuse and neglect. Our dedicated and compassionate community of caregivers makes the hurting stop, the healing begin, and the love last, one child at a time. Our Little Haven was founded in 1993 by Scott and Kathleen Hummel as an early intervention program. OLH has grown over the years from an organization serving 30 children annually to one serving over 600 children annually through a suite of early intervention programs. (Less)

All staff members are encouraged, through their regular conferences with their Manager or Director, to further their professional approaches and growth in their field of work. The "training fund" would allow for the funding of the staff's training. Our Little Haven is active in several local and statewide networks and associations including Missouri Child Care Association, Vision for Children at Risk, St. Louis Child Abuse and Neglect Network, and Five By Five Program.

The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
Our Little Haven, like most, realized in early February 2020, that the pandemic was going to impact the children and families we serve. After numerous conversations, OLH hosted a community gathering of like-minded social service providers to discuss the issues, concerns, and solutions. Each organization then brought the subject to their staff and another brainstorming meeting was held in late February. The collection of agencies began each of these processes at their agency: 1. Initiating Covid protocols (as provided by the CDC and local health officials) for staff and clients. 2. Exploring and introducing "telehealth" to staff and clients as appropriate. 3. Initiating "porch visits" allowing social work staff to remain, safely, in frequent contact with children and families in care. 4. Following local, state, and federal mandates in regard to covid safety measures. 5. Using existing and new resources to encourage personal safety measures including providing clients with access to the covid vaccine. 6. Networking with numerous organizations to share covid-based resources through the St. Louis Regional Response Team. 7. Staying in daily contact with St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and Missouri State Health Departments.
