The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
The COVID-19 pandemic created great challenges for our summer camp ministry in 2020 and 2021. It also created an amazing opportunity to serve children who had spent much of the last year in virtual settings. Kanakuk is proud to have made significant changes to ensure the safety and health of our guest and staff allowing the opportunity to serve over 10,000 people in 2020. We changed operating procedures, invested in new filtration and sanitation, and constructed COVID Safe Areas to care for sick individuals. Together, we helped bring refreshment, joy and hope to people who were lonely and frustrated with the pandemic. In 2021, we resumed operations of our traveling day camps and served over 19,000 campers while still operating during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, our summer camps operated at near capacity with only limited cases of COVID-19. We are thankful for the positive support we received from parents and the generous donations to help recover from our loses in 2020. It was a hard, but amazing year to see how the Lord provided for our guests and ministry.
