Vision

A braided network of land, water, and cultural trails—supported by an active coalition—linking Ohio River communities and conserved wildlands.

Goals

1. 1.We aim to support projects that improve recreational infrastructure, especially in recreational gaps. Additionally, we hope to facilitate region-wide planning and implementation of improvements to bicycling and pedestrian infrastructure to enhance safety, connectivity, and overall user experience.
2. 2.Continue leading our annual “Challenge” to network with local communities, to raise awareness for river recreation, and to connect leaders to projects along the Ohio River. Support the growth of nonprofit and small-businesses along the river, such as those providing rental/shuttle services and guided programming. Introduce people to paddling the Ohio River in order to to cultivate advocates.
3. 3.Create a comprehensive brand voice document—informed by market research—that aligns our brand tone, messaging, narrative, mission statement, and vision. This will include brand positioning and how we can regionally embrace an alternative image for the Ohio River, e.g., “majestic” and “awe-inspiring” instead of “dirty” and “dangerous.
