Young Voices

Mission

Young Voices transforms urban Rhode Island youth into powerful advocates who have a voice in every aspect of their lives. Our programs guide young adults to understand important issues, think strategically, and make their voices heard.

Vision

Through yearlong civic engagement programs and leadership development projects, youth gain essential skills in public speaking, critical analysis, and effective communication. Young Voices provides young people with the rare opportunity to occupy executive positions at nearly every organizational level, relating the truth of their lived experience to adults and creating positive ripple effects across our educational landscape.

Goals

1.Create more incentives and youth recognition, increase amount of monthly youth stipends, address issues of burnout among youth, maintain majority-youth led Board of Directors.
2.Create a dedicated College Access Program, hire postsecondary and alumni engagement coordinator, establish a college-credit bearing course within Young Voices.
3.Create succession plan, invest in professional development opportunities for Young Voices staff and youth.
