Vision

To inspire, enrich, and empower people through the many resources of the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum.

Goals

1. 1.Embrace education as the foremost priority by increasing outreach to schools, engaging in continuous interaction with institutions of higher education, and creating and refining robust programs. Continue to support core activities in Independence while energizing the Library to promote and facilitate greater and more widespread public use and enjoyment of the renovated facility and its grounds.
2. 2.Establish a deeper, richer, and more prominent presence in Kansas City that will boost recognition, inspire affiliation, and enhance patronage. Enlarge TLI’s national footprint through public programing outside the Kansas City area and explore opportunities for periodic international programing and events.
3. 3.Continue to create a high-performing organization with the dedication, knowledge and skills to achieve the goals in this plan and expand TLI’s reach and impact. Ensure sufficient financial strength to effectively support the Library and to undertake the expansion contemplated by this plan.
