Homes for Veterans
Mission
Homes for Veterans is dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes by removing the barriers that stand in the way of their independence, dignity, and quality of life. Our mission is to create barrier-free living for disabled veterans and military families through critical home modifications, emergency assistance programs, essential item distributions, accessibility initiatives, and long-term affordable housing efforts. We provide life-changing services at no cost to the veterans we serve, including wheelchair ramps, accessible bathrooms, widened doorways, stairlifts, safer living spaces, and other critical modifications that allow veterans to live safely and independently in their own homes. Beyond construction projects, we also deliver thousands of essential items to veterans and veteran facilities, support underserved veterans who often fall through the cracks of traditional systems, assist veteran organizations with accessibility improvements, and work to build communities of care and dignity for those who served our country. As our mission continues to grow, Homes for Veterans is also advancing initiatives focused on developing affordable and accessible housing for veterans, ensuring that those who sacrificed for our nation have a safe, stable, and dignified place to call home. Every aspect of our work is rooted in one belief: no veteran should ever feel forgotten after serving our country.
Vision
A nation where every veteran lives with the independence, dignity, and safety they fought to protect for others.
Goals
- 1.Over 4.7 million U.S. veterans live with a service-connected disability, many facing barriers to safe and independent living. Homes for Veterans is committed to expanding our programs nationwide by scaling barrier-free home modifications, accessibility initiatives, essential item distributions, and future housing efforts to reach more veterans in need.
- 2.This goal reflects our commitment to expanding direct mail efforts to engage donors and educate the public about disabled veterans’ needs. Studies show older Americans are among the most responsive to direct mail and often value opportunities to give back through donations and essential item drives. Increased outreach helps grow community support and serve more veterans in need.
- 3.This goal reflects our commitment to strengthening the long-term capacity of Homes for Veterans through investments in financial management, operational infrastructure, compliance, and staff. A stronger foundation allows us to operate more efficiently, remain sustainable, and expand services to reach more veterans in need nationwide.
