BASAibu

Mission

We create new norms of public participation and civic engagement by encouraging young people, particularly young women, to publicly discuss key issues using local languages on community-developed online platforms.

Vision

We envision a world where youth can freely speak out about civic issues and where government policies reflect the concerns and perspectives of young people.

Goals

1.Despite 80% internet access and a legal mandate for youth participation, many young Indonesians feel that their opinions don't matter. Young women face additional barriers. Our goal is to change systems and behaviors so that young people have the capacity, opportunity and motiviation to more effectively participate in civic life and the government appreciates and seeks out young people's input.
2.We strive to revitalize local languages in the digital age by encouraging young people, governments, teachers and communities to actively use them with issues that matter to young people.
