The Small Things

Mission

We believe all children deserve homes and families – poverty alone is never an acceptable reason for a child to be in an orphanage. The Small Things (TST) aims to create alternatives to traditional orphanages for vulnerable children, by supporting struggling families, empowering caregivers and communities, and serving as an advocate for transition to a family-first model with options for residential care as a last resort.

Vision

We envision a world where children remain with families whenever possible, and only as a last resort

Goals

1.Form a network of organizations throughout Tanzania working together to develop best practices, fund effective programs, cooperate for scarce resources, and advocate for change across the sector.
2.Provide access to mental health and disability counselors, family preservation experts, and HR specialists.
3.Build relationships with donors and funders to create more reliable streams of income.
