More data

The Program Expense Ratio is determined by Program Expenses/Total Expense (average of most recent three 990s).

We believe that those spending less than half of their budget on program expenses (3 year average) are simply not living up to their mission. Charities demonstrating such gross inefficiency receive 0 points for both (Program Expenses and Liabilities to Assets) financial metrics.

For a passing score, Charity Navigator looks for a ratio of 70% or higher. Charities that fall below 50% will receive zero points for the two financial metrics.

What is your organization aiming to accomplish?

We believe that reducing animal overpopulation is a vital way to make our community a safer and kinder place for both animals and humans.

What are your strategies for making this happen?

At ADORE, we work to get stray and abandoned dogs off the streets and out of shelters — and to help dogs who do have homes stay in those homes by aiding and educating their owners.

What are your organization's capabilities for doing this?

One of the ways we help dogs is by helping their humans. When dog owners are in need, we lend a hand so that they can keep their beloved pets and get back on their feet. ADORE Houston is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt animal welfare organization ADORE provides rescue services, vet care, foster care and adoptive placement. Dogs come to us from many sources, including local animal shelters, owner surrenders and the streets of Houston. Our goal is to find safe and loving homes for each and every one.

How will your organization know if you are making progress?

ADORE is able to judge our progress by the number or dogs we are able to adopt out each year.

What have and haven't you accomplished so far?

We have partnered with Big Fix Houston the last two years and have seen a huge success in spay neuter initiatives in low income areas. We hope to continue with this effort and make it a city wide event
