In 2020, we experienced a 9% decline in donations, but we received the PPP loan and were able to continue to employ a full staff. In 2021, we did not experience a decline in donations. In 2022 we received ERC credits, strengthening our overall cash position with an additional 2 months of cash.

Prior to COVID-19, our entire program model was based on peer-led groups meeting in person. Due to social distancing, we shifted from in-person gatherings to virtual course offerings.

Due to social distancing, we shifted from in-person gatherings to virtual course offerings. We offer virtual course trainings to our online leaders to provide best practices in effectively leading online and fostering community online.

While we believe in-person courses foster community and are the best program delivery method, we will continue to offer virtual courses to meet the demand for people who desire to attend a trauma healing course but do not have one available in their local community.

Our Executive Director is an active member of both TAB (The Alternative Board) and the EO (Entrepreneurs' Organization) Nashville chapter. These organizations provide high-quality networks of support for leaders as they navigate rapidly changing markets. Through these organizations, our team receives access to networking opportunities, coaching and consulting, and support through shared experiences. Dr. Jenny Owens maintains her clinical licensure as an Occupational Therapist. Both our Military and First Responder program leaders maintain certified suicide prevention training through ASIST, safeTALK and QPR.

For over a decade, Evan and Jenny Owens have been active thought leaders at the forefront of the faith-based trauma healing movement working with churches and community leaders to bring about lasting change. In September 2022 they launched their first book, Healing What's Hidden, to provide clinical insights and practical steps to overcome trauma. They have been featured at various conferences and on various podcasts including the Church Mental Health Summit, the Q Ideas Culture Summit, and the AACC Conference. Our team trains volunteers to facilitate our peer-led trauma healing courses nationwide. YTD as of September 2022, we have trained over 300 leaders to facilitate our courses. Our research efforts are led by Dr. Jenny Owens (OTD) and researchers from the University of Illinois and have been featured in publications including The Journal of Military Psychology, Traumatology, and Military Behavioral Health.
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
Suicide is now the second leading cause of death for ages 18-39 with a suicide happening every 20 seconds. It remains the 12th leading cause of death for all ages. In 2021, we launched our Trauma REBOOT course and curriculum to apply the principles of our military and first responder programs to the general public allowing us to greatly expand our reach. During the last year, we have experienced 70% growth in the number of course participants, 50% growth in the number of leaders we are training to become course leaders, and 198% growth in individuals accessing our online learning platform. We are actively working to scale for this growth by increasing revenue, investing in technology, hiring new staff members, and identifying efficiency gains.
