We partner with two amazing organizations that provide leadership development to our organization - Stand Together Foundation and Praxis. Both have been extremely beneficial to our organization over the past several years. In particular, Stand Together has made a tremendous investment the development of our leadership team through regular coaching, training and resources.

What are this organization’s external mobilizaton efforts?
Our organization is a strong partner with two external networks and collective impact efforts - Stand Together Foundation and Praxis. Through both organizations we have many opportunities each year to collaborate and learn from other nonprofits around the world. In addition, we partner locally with several Community Foundations who offer learning opportunities for our leadership team year-round.

The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
An internal change that our organization has adapted to is a change in our leadership structure. For the past 12 years, co-founders Jim and Melinda Hollandsworth have led Path together - Melinda leading the internal operations and managing staff and Jim leading all external engagement, primarily fundraising and partnerships. But in May 2023, Melinda reached a place of burnout and wanted to return to her first love of working directly with kids. So she and Jim made a decision that she would move back into a role working with high school students and not leading or managing staff. As a result, it was decided that Jim would take over the day to day leadership of the staff team in addition to fundraising. This was a big change and our entire leadership was forced to adapt. There was no way Jim, our Executive Director, could continue doing both fundraising and day to day staff leadership without adapting. But thanks to our partnership with the Stand Together Foundation over the past few years we'd learned a great deal about talent and decision making rights. This knowledge led us to a decision that has strengthened our overall team. We decided to increase the decision-making rights of our Leadership Team on the programmatic side of our work. This has led to better collaboration and increased confidence for our Leadership Team. In addition, as a result of Melinda's ability to focus on solely on our high school students, she's unlocked some key discoveries that are changing how we work with all our students. In summary, our organization has adapted to an internal change in a positive way. This adaptation resulted in our Leadership Team building more confidence in their leadership and allowed Melinda to focus on what she's uniquely gifted to do - work directly with students. Both adaptations have made Path United a better organization going forward.
