A VENTURE BY A GROUP OF UNIVERSITIES TO CONSTRUCT, OWN AND OPERATE AN ASTRONOMICAL TELESCOPE IN THE ANDES MOUNTAINS. THE OBSERVATORY WILL ENABLE STUDIES OF THE EARLY UNIVERSE, THE EVOLUTION OF GALAXIES AND CLUSTERS OF GALAXIES, AND THE FORMATION OF STARS IN THE MILKY WAY.
