Vision

The Tioga County Homeless Initiative focuses on reducing homelessness by offering a safe shelter where individuals and families can meet their basic needs while they work toward stability. The organization provides meals, hygiene facilities, and a secure place to stay, enabling guests to begin rebuilding their lives. Staff members help guests create personalized plans that address long-term goals such as housing, employment, education, and healthcare, providing each person with targeted support. They also connect guests with community services, including mental health counseling, veteran support, and substance use programs, to remove barriers that contribute to ongoing homelessness. Partnerships with churches, volunteers, and faith-based groups strengthen the shelter’s operations by providing meals, staffing support, and a sense of community. A screening process before intake ensures a safe, orderly environment where guests can focus on progress.
