Vision

NFYI's vision is that the child welfare system is transformed into a community of support centered on child well-being and lived experiences.

Goals

1. 1.NFYI works to increase the number of current/former foster youth who participate in our programs *and* retain the young adults in our programs through an engaging, trauma-informed curriculum; a supportive community; and the creation of opportunities for youth to learn and grow. Through rigorous on-going evaluation, we identify which approaches work best and seek opportunities to scale them up.
2. 2.NFYI is bringing more current/former foster youth to Congress and providing them with opportunities to develop their voices and leadership skills for ongoing advocacy. We also seek to inform/influence local/national policy by bringing lived experience to decision-makers. We are focused on deepening and expanding our impact through effecting systemic change and developing leaders across the nation.
3. 3.NFYI prioritizes having a staff that reflects the diverse population we serve and providing professional opportunities to people with lived experience in foster care. We build staff capacity through professional development opportunities. We have created a robust fundraising plan to ensure that resources are available to support growth.
