Food Tank the Think Tank for Food
Mission
Food Tank is the world’s fastest growing global non-profit community working towards positive transformation in how we produce and consume food. As one of the food and agriculture movement’s most dynamic conveners and most impactful research and advocacy organizations, we educate, advocate, and collaborate with local partners to amplify on the ground solutions.
Vision
Food Tank is for farmers and producers, policy makers and government leaders, researchers and scientists, academics and journalists, and the funding and donor communities to collaborate on providing sustainable solutions for our most pressing environmental and social problems. We bridge the domestic and global food issues by highlighting how hunger, malnutrition, those experiencing obesity, the climate crisis, unemployment, and other problems can be solved by more research and investment in sustainable agriculture and food systems. We feature innovative ideas that are already working on the ground, in cities, in kitchens, in fields and in laboratories. These innovations need more attention, more research, and ultimately more funding to be replicated and scaled-up. And that is where we need you. We all need to work together to find solutions that nourish ourselves and protect the planet.
Goals
- 1.Food Tank aims to grow its network of nonprofit partners, targeting 1,000 organizations across the health, climate, nutrition, and food sectors. This expansion will foster shared strategies, create opportunities for cross-sector collaboration, and amplify the collective impact of these groups in advocating for resilient, equitable food systems.
- 2.Food Tank will continue its Food is Medicine Capitol Hill series, facilitating bipartisan dialogue on food and health policies. With quarterly events, this initiative seeks to foster collaboration among policymakers, industry leaders, and academics to push for systemic changes that prioritize food access, health equity, and climate resilience.
- 3.Food Tank plans to expand its cultural programming, including partnerships with major events like SXSW and Sundance, to elevate the conversation around food systems and their intersection with the climate crisis. By hosting interactive events, performances, and summits, the organization seeks to engage a wider audience in advocating for food system change.
