Urban Ed Academy

Mission

At Urban Ed Academy, we're on a mission to ensure every student gets the chance to learn from a Black male educator. We know representation in the classroom is a powerful catalyst for improving educational outcomes for all students. Our educator fellowship program, Man the Bay, is all about tackling the obstacles that Black male educators face when entering the profession. We recruit, prepare, house, and support their professional development throughout all 4-years — because students deserve to see themselves in the classroom.

Goals

1.Recruit 5-10 Black male educators annually to our Educator Fellowship, aiming for an 80% enrollment rate. This addresses the underrepresentation of Black male educators.
2.Maintain an 80%+ completion rate in our fellowship, provide 10+ professional development sessions, and ensure 100% job placement for new fellows. This demonstrates our program's effectiveness.
3.Impact student outcomes by reducing absenteeism by 15%, increasing positive interactions by 20%, and boosting test scores by 10% through fellow-led interventions.
