Global Learning Exchange Initiative

Mission

Our mission is to empower elementary school children in Guatemala by providing access to an unparalleled literacy curriculum and professional teacher training that creates new opportunities for the next generation. Our purpose is to transform lives and communities through child literacy, one lesson at a time.

Vision

We believe that people around the world are born capable and uniquely talented. We believe the missing ingredient for those who won’t succeed and those who will is opportunity. Given opportunity, children can learn, succeed and thrive.

Goals

1.GLXi, a US and Guatemalan nonprofit, aims to expand its literacy programs within Guatemala's public school system. Our "Open Books, Open Minds" initiative trains public school teachers in a high-quality literacy curriculum for early grades. By enhancing virtual teacher training and increasing access to our programs, we aim to empower more educators and students for lasting impact.
2.GLXi is investing in organizational capacity to enhance literacy education in Guatemala. We are strengthening our infrastructure, expanding our team, and developing new training materials and digital resources. By incorporating AI to create more digital books, we aim to support scalability and sustainability, training more teachers and reaching more students.
3.GLXi is expanding its preschool literacy pilot project, now active in multiple classrooms. This initiative introduces foundational literacy skills to young children, leveraging research-based teaching practices and engaging digital resources. By fostering an immersive learning environment, we aim to enhance early literacy development.
