Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement Inc.
Mission
The Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement™ is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with a mission to create safer and more loving communities through essential life skills programs that are suited for all stages of life, from toddlers through adulthood. It was founded by Scarlett Lewis in 2013 in honor of her son, Jesse, who was one of the first graders killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy to proactively address the escalating surge of mental health challenges and hopelessness impacting individuals of all ages. The Choose Love Movement teaches research-backed, prevention-focused skills that foster resilience, emotional regulation, and connection to create safer, more compassionate, and loving communities. Its neuroscience-informed curriculum is offered at no cost to ensure maximum accessibility
Vision
The Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement will pursue its mission with schools, families, correctional institutions, workplaces, communities, and other social avenues by opening participants’ minds and hearts to choose love over fear/anger/hatred by employing the Choose Love formula: Courage + Gratitude + Forgiveness + Compassion-in-action as a guide for empowering change agents in making heroic interpersonal choices in all social settings.
Goals
- 1.We will expand professional development to address evolving community needs by launching three new workshops: 1. Supporting Educators Serving Neurodivergent Learners, 2. School Violence Prevention/Mental Health Awareness and 3. Values-Based Leadership for Workplaces. These offerings will help strengthen emotional well-being, safety, and connection in schools, communities, and workplaces.
- 2.We will build on the successful Choose Love for Corrections pilot program with the New Hampshire Department of Corrections to launch an incremental national program rollout. The initiative will provide systemwide emotional intelligence, post-traumatic growth, resilience training, and community reintegration skills to incarcerated individuals and corrections staff across the U.S.
- 3.To maximize impact for students, educators, and families, we will deepen relationships with Choose Love for Schools partners to support full, schoolwide program implementation. By nurturing and strengthening relationships with educators, ambassadors, and schools, the Choose Love Formula™ and Choice Moment Model will be embedded practices that improve overall school climate, culture, and outcomes.
