Mission

The Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education Center (GRACE Gorillas) partners with Congolese communities to create a living landscape where Grauer’s gorillas, forest habitats, and local communities thrive. GRACE Gorillas is nestled in a biodiversity hotspot in the heart of Africa's Congo Basin, the second-largest tropical forest on earth. We are located in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the endemic range of critically endangered Grauer's gorillas, with focus on rewilding Grauer's gorillas, protecting forest habitats, and engaging local communities. Our mission is to provide excellent care for rescued Grauer’s gorillas and work alongside Congolese communities to promote the conservation of wild gorillas and their habitat. Our vision is a healthy, stable population of wild Grauer’s gorillas in the Democratic Republic of Congo that is no longer threatened and is a source of pride for the Congolese people.
