What are this organization’s external mobilizaton efforts?
Beyond partner schools, Changing Perspectives also engages in a number of fruitful collaborations with like-minded organizations regionally and nationally. This helps us to reach broader audiences while also strengthening our capacity for local work through exposure, content development, and access to resources Vermont schools might not otherwise know about, thereby enriching students’ educational opportunities. Collaborations vary based on our partners’ needs, but often focus on professional development for educators and educational staff, content development, conference presentations and workshops, and more.
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
In March 2020, when schools were forced to triage to remote learning, Changing Perspectives immediately created a library of free, online resources for educators. Over the course of -8 months, these materials were accessed more than 30,000 times on our website from users from locally and around the country and globe. Simultaneously, we began planning for the 2020-2021 school year with the knowledge that schools would be in high need of services and supports such as ours, yet managing extremely tight budgets. Changing Perspectives increased efforts to appeal to major donors and private foundation funders to support scholarship funding that would enable schools to engage with our programming and support their students through not only the trauma of COVID-19 and an array of social and political crises, but also help re-establish their disrupted learning communities and ensure that students’ social emotional well-being and skill building would be at the forefront of planning and decision making. Additionally, we modified professional development, educator coaching, and parent programs to create virtual options for school partners and added guidance for educators seeking to deliver lessons in remote learning settings.
