Vision

Giving circles are changing the face of philanthropy, and 70% of U.S. giving circles are majority female. According to The Landscape of Giving Circles/Collective Giving Groups study in the US, the amount of money in giving circles has tripled over the last decade, with an estimated $1.29+ billion being granted. Philanos serves to support the growth and sustainability of giving circles that enrich the communities in which they are in.

Goals

1. 1.Philanos is committed to helping our affiliate members develop grant-making practices that are most responsive to the community and the grantees’ needs.
2. 2.In 2023-2024 Philanos will focus on expanding the presence of giving circles in US regions (Mountain West and South Central) and in BIPOC communities that have historically been underserved.
3. 3.In 2024 Philanos will undertake a strategic plan to assess how to most effectively and efficiently serve its community of 20,000 female philanthropists and to expand into under-resourced communities.
