Vision

To alleviate hunger and food insecurity among families in Washington, D.C.

Goals

1. 1.To increase access to fresh produce, eggs, milk and meat products to families receiving supplemental groceries through our pantries. In addition to purchasing fresh food, we partner with urban farms such as the St. Francis Monastery in Washington, D.C. and a Maryland-based hydroponic farm on the campus of the Academy of the Holy Cross to grow our own environmentally sustainable produce.
2. 2.Expand partnerships with area schools and churches for non-perishable food items. We currently receive 60% of non-perishable food items as a result of these partnerships. Increasing that share to 75% will enhance our ability to invest limited resources to purchase fresh produce, eggs, milk and meat to support the comprehensive nutritional needs of our families.
3. 3.Provide nutrition education and develop healthy recipes in consultation with a registered dietician to equip families with knowledge of how to make healthful meals with pantry staples, produce and protein options.
