We were unable to hold our traditional fundraising event - Time is of the Essence Luncheon. Our donations to this event declined by 40%.

The impact of the pandemic did not affect us with our programs. We were still able to carry out our mission in helping women suffering from ovarian cancer who are in financial need, provding scholarships to Fl medical students interested in gyn oncology and funding our fellowship.


How this organization adapted to changing conditions caused by COVID-19:

We moved our office to a smaller location, and streamlined expenses. We also applied for the PPP and other grants.


Innovations the organization intends to continue permanently after the pandemic:

We will contine to stay at the smaller location. And once the luncheon has returned - the layout and details will look a lot different since so many of the vendors are opperating diffently.

Second, we assume that nonprofits work independently and do not coordinate the provision of aid to the same patient. As a result, all aid provided by the nonprofit to patients with medical conditions can be directly attributable to the nonprofit.

Vision

The nonprofit organization presents evidence of strategic thinking through articulating the organization’s vision.


From financial assistance to local women in need, to groundbreaking research and scholarships for future gynecological oncologists, the difference H.O.W. is making is loud and clear. Under the guidance of H.O.W.’s Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board, Robert C. Knapp, M.D., we will continue to award grants through our fellowship program to help find a cure and identified greater methods for early detection of ovarian cancer. We will continue to provide scholarships to FL medical students so that they may pursue careers in gynecologic oncology. Local women in need suffering from ovarian cancer will not have to choose between paying their mortgage and lifesaving medical treatment. We will pay their everyday living expenses to ease the burden of this devastating disease. Through free educational programs women will continue to learn about the most up-to-date research and will better able to recognize the signs, symptoms and risks of ovarian cancer and have a better chance of survival.

Story of Adaptability

The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.


Because of the pandemic, we unforuntately like many other nonprofits were not able to hold our traditional fundraising event - so we had to get creative. While the luncheon did not take place in person in 2021 because of COVID-19, H.O.W. transformed the event to a "Stay Home, Never Stay Silent" lunch delivered to each donor's door. The event turned out to be a huges success with expenses being low and donors willing to give. It was a reminder to all - that while we were apart in 2021 - we were united in remembering that ovarian cancer may whisper, but H.O.W. never will.
