Mission
Bailing Out Benji is a small nonprofit organization based in Ames, Iowa that is dedicated to ending puppy mill cruelty through research, education and advocacy. Our team provides transparency into puppy mills, puppy brokers and puppy stores and online sellers by forensically auditing government health records and inspection records and making that information public. Our research is used from classrooms to policy rooms across the country to make necessary changes in the lives of countless animals and to protect consumers against this predatory industry.
Vision
Bailing Out Benji is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is dedicated to ending puppy mill cruelty through research, education and advocacy. Goals
- 1.We maintain the largest database in the country of dog breeders and sellers and will continue to share our research and data in a transparent and non-biased way in order to educate the public before they support an unethical business.
- 2.We started in Ames, Iowa and have been expanding with volunteers across the country! We will continue helping advocates in their communities make a difference for animals and people who love them. We develop tools that help animal advocates and consumers alike gain understanding and help end inhumane breeding.
- 3.We are a young org and are committed to evolving to reflect the communities we serve! We have grown our research to include online sellers of dogs and unlicensed breeders, in addition to licensed breeders, brokers, and pet stores. We have also expanded our field research, gaining access to breeding facilities to observe and educate.
