Ruben Castro Charities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to eliminating generational poverty in Moorpark and surrounding communities through equitable access to food and education, from Simi Valley to Conejo Valley. By leveraging strong partnerships with food retailers, local farms, and a dedicated volunteer network, RCC operates a weekly food pantry for food-insecure individuals, including homebound residents. When we began, we served 11 families; today, we serve nearly 500 families each week, processing over 3 million pounds of food each year. We also run a community farm in order to provide our food distributions with fresh, nutritional produce, as well as a sustainable way to compost any excess food.

To receive a star rating, a charity must be a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) public charity. Private foundations, consolidated subsidiaries, and organizations with revoked or inactive IRS status are not eligible for a rating.
