Education and mobilization are the first steps in our Theory of Change. Strategic partnerships, presentations, organizing, networks, awareness, and advocacy at the local and state level are essential to pass bold, environmental justice policies.
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
CAC's nimble team pivoted quickly to virtual meetings. Not only did CAC make this pivot internally, but also ensured that our essential work in community building, education, and mobilization continued through virtual and telephone meetings. Local jurisdictions slowed their progress on intended climate action during this period, but CAC continued to strategize and mobilize to ensure bold climate justice policies were prioritized and funded by local governments at the soonest opportunity. Additionally, internally, CAC ensured that the activists that continued their tireless fight did not burn out by instituting new policies that allowed for team members to prioritize mental and physical health while also achieving our mission. CAC leadership knows how important it is to invest in the team - and the experience of the Covid pandemic reaffirmed this core value.
