Mission

At Hunger Impact partners (HIP), our sole mission is to enable children to better grow, develop and focus on learning rather than hunger, and ultimately reach their full potential and long-term self-sufficiency. HIP brings a laser focus to leading initiatives that support high impact child nutrition programs available to children experiencing food hardship from early childhood to age 18. Armed with in-depth knowledge in hunger-relief, we customize community-based solutions designed locally to close the meal gap for low-income children living at or below poverty. Our strategies target disadvantaged children in low-income communities suffering from racial inequities and the most significant challenges—disparities in educational, health and social well-being indicators. Our vision is to ensure all marginalized children have access to 3 meals a day 365 days a year. Our guiding principle is children should only be hungry to learn.

Vision

Nutritious food for every disadvantaged Minnesota child 0-18 years. Our Guiding Principle is: Kids should only be hungry to learn!

Goals

1.Remove the barriers to child nutrition programs by tailoring successful initiatives within childcare, school and community settings to address food insecurity for all Minnesota children living in poverty.
2.Between 2015 and 2025, our goal is to add 15 million meals and $30 million in Sustainable Revenue. Focus areas are: Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC); Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) with a focus on childcare centers and after-school meals; School Breakfast Program (SBP); and Summer Food Service Program.
3.Create and maintain the Free Meals for Kids mobile app to ensure children 18 and under can access nutritious meals. The app lists information on programs that offer meals at childcare centers and after-school programs and weekend and holiday backpack programs. The app lists sites serving free summer meals.
