Whiskers Pet Rescue Inc.
Mission
Whiskers Pet Rescue, located in Southbury, Connecticut, is a dedicated no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit cat rescue organization. We are committed to the welfare of cats and kittens in our local communities who have been abandoned, injured, abused, or neglected. We also have a senior-to-senior forever foster program to provide senior cats to local senior citizens at no cost to them. We currently have 70+ cats in the program that we supply vetting, food, litter and medical needs for, for the life of the cat. Whiskers relies entirely on the generosity of our supporters through donations, fundraisers & events, adoption fees, and occasional small grants. We work tirelessly to rescue, care for, and place hundreds of cats and kittens into loving, permanent homes each year. At Whiskers, every cat matters. We are devoted to giving each one the compassionate care they deserve—and the second chance they need.
Vision
To create a world where every cat is safe, loved, and given a second chance, fostering compassionate communities that rescue, rehabilitate and rehome cats in need, a world where spay/neuter is the norm to prevent overpopulation, and where financial support is given when needed to keep cats in their homes.
Goals
- 1.Grow our team to be able to find forever homes for more kitties through our adoption programs. Expand our Senior to Senior Forever Foster program to be able to bring in more senior kitties to pair with senior citizens. Provide training for the community on the importance of spay/neuter, health care, and overall guidance on kitty care through workshops and training videos for the public.
- 2.Increase our paid staff to include more members of our medical team (including vet and support services) as well as our administrative support team. Continue to grow our social media presence to bring awareness of who we are, what we do, and how we support the kitty population.
- 3.Introduce programs that help the cat community through education, awareness, and assistance, whether financial for those needing assistance in keeping their cats or physical such as a community spay/neuter program.
