THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED DESPITE MANY LOGISTICAL SETBACKS BROUGHT ON BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE LARGEST OF WHICH WAS THE CANCELLATION OF OUR PACKING PARTIES WHICH LED TO A DECREASE IN PRODUCT DONATIONS BY MORE THAN 50%. THANKS TO RELIEF FUNDING, CONTRIBUTIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS, AND LARGE- SCALE DONATIONS FROM THE ALLIANCE FOR PERIOD SUPPLIES AND PERIOD PARTNER, WE WERE ABLE TO PURCHASE BULK ORDERS OF SUPPLIES AND INCREASE OUR SHIPPING BUDGET TO SHIP SUPPLIES DIRECTLY TO OUR PARTNERS. IN THE FALL OF 2020, HPP COMPLETED ITS FIRST STATEWIDE SURVEY OF SCHOOL NURSES TO HELP DOCUMENT MENSTRUAL POVERTY IN SOUTH CAROLINA'S PUBLIC SCHOOLS. WE RECEIVED RESPONSES FROM SCHOOLS IN 36 SOUTH CAROLINA COUNTIES. AMONG FINDINGS, WE LEARNED THAT 97% OF RESPONDENTS KNEW HOW TO REQUEST SUPPLIES FROM HPP, AND 62% BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE THE PRIMARY SOURCE OF MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS FOR THEIR STUDENTS-IN-NEED.
