Mission

The BSO’s longstanding mission is to perform the highest quality symphonic music of all eras that nurtures the human spirit. We are committed to engaging, inspiring, educating, and serving our audiences in meaningful and intentional ways, and to enhancing Maryland as a center of cultural vitality and importance. We present everything from beloved orchestral works in the classical repertoire and world premieres of new music to musical theatre, popular music, jazz, multi-cultural and interdisciplinary programming, film scores, and more. We make our orchestra relevant and accessible because we believe symphonic music is an artform is for everyone. Our 150+ performances, programs, and presentations reach an annual audience of 400,000+ through in-person and digital experiences.

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s vision is to become America's undeniable example of a cherished, widely relevant, and inventive symphony. Through a dual commitment to artistic achievement and community engagement, we will use the awesome power of music to change and move lives while bringing people together.
