Reading Is Fundamental works to disrupt the alarming U.S. literacy crisis by inspiring the joy of reading in children, a critical element to driving the frequency, motivation, and engagement needed to create skilled readers. We know that if we build a foundation of joy for children, then development, discovery, and opportunity follow.

Goals

1.Community: Serve as a consistent, trusted, and influential voice championing children’s literacy nationwide. Expand usage of enhanced RIF programs, platforms, and resources. Grow our community of literacy advocates that expand mission reach. Deepen engagement with educators, families, volunteers and partners, building their capacity to drive impact.
2.Consumer: Expand access to content, stories, and experiences through consumer-facing RIF brands and platforms. Develop mission-aligned revenue models that reinvest in impact and sustainability, leveraging owned intellectual property (including Skybrary, I <3 Books, August House publishing company).
3.Campaign: Successfully execute the READ Comprehensive Capital Campaign. Diversify and strengthen contributed revenue across funding sources. Grow multi-year investments that fuel scale and sustainability.
