Baltimore Science Fiction Society Incorporated

Mission

The Baltimore Science Fiction Society (BSFS) exists to promote the creation and appreciation of science fiction and fantasy, and related sub-genres, of cultural arts, primarily through literary art forms, but also embracing the many related graphical, musical, theatrical, and media creations inspired by speculative fiction. BSFS welcomes all people to be part of the activities we sponsor and to consider becoming one of our members.

Vision

A world in which an ever growing body of literature is fed by the development of new writers, freely

Goals

1.A. Development of new writers of speculative fiction through writing four writing competitions touching new professional novelists, high school students, amateur adults, and poets.
2.B. Maintaining access to speculative literature in a growing 15,000+ volume library.
3.C. Encouraging new readers by raising funds to distribute books to children with an emphasis on lower income areas near the BSFS building in the City of Baltimore.
