    Christ House

    Mission

    Christ House has been providing comprehensive health care to sick, homeless men in Washington, DC since 1985. Our 34-bed facility provides 24-hour medical care, case management, housing placement assistance, meals, clothing, and a full range of other supportive services. Our goal is that patients will leave with improved health and a new ability to live independently in the community. We served 208 admissions in 2023 and provided a total of 6,938 patient-days of care. In addition to the primary illness(es) for which they were admitted, 69% percent of our patients acknowledged a history of alcohol or drug abuse, and 72.8% had a diagnosed mental illness. In 2023, 100% of Christ House patients presented with three or more health conditions at the time of admission. In addition to our medical program, Christ House also operates the Kairos Program, a permanent supportive housing community for former Christ House patients with chronic illnesses who are in recovery from substance use disorders.
