Family Promise

Mission

Family Promise is a national nonprofit that serves families with children who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Founded in 1988 and headquartered in Summit, NJ, the organization’s network mobilizes communities across the country to create sustainable solutions that ensure children and their families have safe, affordable, secure housing. We address all the issues that can lead to homelessness and equip families with the tools and skills to regain and maintain independence. We foster community engagement through the optimization of existing community resources and collaboration with local and national partners to focus on the following areas: homelessness prevention, emergency shelter, stabilization, and housing. Every year, Family Promise serves tens of thousands of families across the country.

1.Expand homelessness prevention program to serve more families in need and spare them the trauma of losing a home.
2.Launch new program in housing to facilitate families' access to affordable housing and increase housing inventory, including repurposing existing spaces and creating new housing units and supporting our national network with appropriate training and resources.
3.Increase public awareness of the issue of family homelessness and all the elements that factor into this crisis and ensure policymakers are informed with current and correct data and information so they can best make decisions that impact families in need.
